We make roads, tunnels, big and small hills for our
trucks and cars with our blocks from
Aunt Hope and Uncle Mark. Thanks...

Fletcher's bibs from long ago have been replaced
with big boy underwear in his dresser drawer.
He's peed a few times in the toilet and a few

He's peed a few times in the toilet and a few
times in his pants -- we haven't gotten serious yet...

He's learning slowly, but surely....
but there's been tears, frustration and
a whole lot of patience along the way....
It is taking longer to get Fletcher dressed in the morning because Mommy has to change Bunny’s (Fletcher's favorite stuffed animal) diaper and get Bunny dressed as well as Fletcher. Plus, Nook and Duck have to be fed breakfast. Mommy now has four babies.
It is taking longer to put the key in the ignition and get on the road because Fletcher insists on putting himself into his car seat, closing the door and connecting the car seat latches which he hasn’t quite mastered yet. Dare we try to show him….
Fletcher can really hold a conversation now. He attempts to explain things to Mommy and Daddy and to share the “happenings” at school. We understand most of it.
Fletcher is becoming a creature of habit and likes things just so… He pushes his chair in, clears his plate and then puts the plate in the dishwasher after eating, he insists Mommy close the garage door as she drives off from the house, he even reminds her to put on her lip gloss while driving away from the house as these are things he’s seen repeatedly and now he's the enforcer.
We are learning that Fletcher is not always angelic. He can be an explosive 2 years old at times, i.e., we’ve entered the terrible twos. His tantrums are usually associated with frustration in trying to accomplish something or what Mommy calls “misreads” – like when Mommy tries to solve a problem or address a need when it is something totally different -- like redirecting him to another toy when Mommy’s thinks the problem is that he’s bored, but the real issue is that he’s hungry.
We are still figuring out this masterful puzzle – our son. The only constant is change. We chuckle, take a deep breaths, and embrace a lot of patience as we try to SHOW Fletcher how to better master this big world we live in. We try to convince Fletcher he still needs Mommy and Daddy as he learns more and attempts to become more independent. Yet, his favorite phrase is “NO, I DO IT.” Good thing he's cute!:-)
This door is just my size. Humm...
let me see what's in here... Daddy!
