The holiday season is over and it is a new year for all of us including the little guy. What a difference one year can make with a child. It is amazing to see how different Fletcher was this holiday season compared to last season and we welcome the changes for next the season and year.
Each new day for Fletcher is filled with lots of activity most of which includes: emptying cabinets, bookcases, drawers and his toy boxes figuring out what he put together, make noise with or tear apart which all leads to lots of activity for Mommy keeping things neat.
He loves anything with buttons especially Mommy and Daddy’s laptops, remote controls, cell phones, and TVs. Last count Fletcher had five play cell phones and Daddy’s old Treo. We’ve also added a few real diversionary (old nonfunctioning) remotes to the mix. Fletcher picks them up and heads straight for the TV...:-)
Fletcher really enjoys being outside and obstructing golf carts as he charges down the golf path after his balls. It is very important to keep the doors locked because he will let himself outside.
He seems to love books and being read to. When he brings a book in hand, you must drop what you are doing to read to him. We either read the same books over and over or the first two pages are read before he loses interest and moves on to his next activity.
He is also drawn to other small children which has scared a parent or two when our supersized boy starts chasing their children to play with them. He enjoys his time at his weekly playgroup and playing with his cousin Elijah.
A plastic toy car in Mommy’s jewelry box, a mixing bowl in Daddy’s office, a candleholder in the garbage can, plastic balls in a desk drawer all are normal these days.
Fletcher is slowly building his vocabulary. He will repeat most anything we say, but at this point it doesn’t come out the same way. Words that top his list are: ball, night, night, mama, and get. I’m sure there are others, but we haven’t figured them out just yet.
Overall, it is a joy to be around Fletcher. Our little boy is an explorer, independent, easily amused, he’s very loveable and gives us the best kisses. How did we ever live without him?
